About The Instructor:

amyheadshotAmy Carpenter started improvising in 1999, while at The University of Arizona. As part of the shortform troupe, The Charles Darwin Experience, she fell in love with improv. Since then, she’s performed at improv festivals in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Austin, Phoenix, and Tucson. She now divides her time between Phoenix and Austin, TX, where she teaches improv to children and senior citizens.

Jacqueline Arend has been improvising since 2005. She is a co-founder of The Torch Theatre and has been instructing since 2007. She teaches longform improvisation regularly at the Torch Theatre, improv for actors with the Arizona Actors Academy and corporate workshops for businesses around the valley. Jacque has taught youth workshops for Arizona School for the Arts, Arizona Call-a-Teen Youth Resources, Arizona Actors Academy and The Torch Theatre.

Michelle Edwards is a founding member of The Torch Theatre and has been working closely within the Phoenix Improv Community for seventeen years. She has been working at Khalsa Montessori Elementary School for just shy of a decade, and has created the art and drama programs there as well. She’s had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of children ages six through thirteen, and helped to create and perform nearly fifty plays, improvised shows, dances, and short films.

Jose Gonzalez teaches, directs, and performs longform improv comedy & theatre in Phoenix at The Torch Theatre, a theatre he co-founded in 2007. He got his start in acting, performance, & movement in 1998 and has focused on improv since October 2001. As a performer & teacher, Jose has traveled with Galapagos, Dangerville, ABC, Umlautilde, Mariachi Kittens, and other projects all over North America (Chicago, Austin, New York, Honolulu, and many more) and parts of Europe (Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Reykjavik). Jose has taught improv to employees of small businesses, nonprofit orgs and corporations, students ranging from elementary school to college-aged, and total novices.
