Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jill Bernard is a one of a kind talent and one of the most respected improv teachers in the world. Jill has been performing with ComedySportz-Twin Cities since 1993, and is a founding member of HUGE Theater in Minneapolis. Her one-woman improv piece, Drum Machine, has been featured in over forty improv festivals. She has taught and performed improv in Argentina, Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, England, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden and in forty of the United States; and also on an episode of MTV’s “Made.” She is one-half of the duo SCRAM with Joe Bill of the Annoyance Theater. An Artistic Associate of the Chicago Improv Festival, she has studied at the Annoyance Theater, Improv Olympic, the Brave New Workshop and other organizations; and is the recipient of the 2005 Chicago Improv Festival Avery Schreiber Ambassador of Improv Award, and the 2007 Miami Improv Festival award for Best Solo Show.

DRUM MACHINE is Jill Bernard’s one-person sweepingly epic unscripted musical featuring multiple characters in scenes, monologues and songs accompanied by electronic drum beats or in collaboration with a musician. The show opens with a brief interview of an audience member, then Bernard creates a musical that weaves details of their life into a historical period suggested by the audience. In this special performance as part of Ghostfest 2017, Jill will be accompanied on the keyboard by Emily Pack of The Peel Comedy Show.

Opening tonight’s show is the Phoenix-based improv troupe Always in Trouble. Always in Trouble is one of the most exciting new groups performing around town and is made up of graduates of The Torch Theatre improv training program. Whether performing their take on the classic improv format, The Harold, or their signature show, The Pendulum, Always in Trouble mixes mischief, mayhem, and a whole lot of fun.

Always in Trouble is Puneet Bajwa, Jeff Dueck, David Joseph, Shanna Leonard, Dave Lorello, Sean Ryan McBride, Jennifer-Anne Moore, Megan Scott, Jack Turnbull, and Joe Wister.
